Every day I ask a movie related question on Substack Notes.
Recently, I asked “Are there any actors or actresses that you always enjoy seeing in films?”
Here are 3 of the top liked answers:
Oscar Isaac rarely disappoints. Even that goofy Marvel series, Moon Knight, was fun because he was in it.
I posted this clip elsewhere recently but, having seen it, how can anyone not look forward to what this guy does next?
Mark
I never have 1 answer for you.
Anyway, intentionally avoiding my all time favorites or my/the all time greatest (some could be anyway)…when these peeps hit the screen I always felt the movie was better and had more weight:
Ciaran Hinds **he was my instant reaction. So underrated.
Stanley Tucci
Colin Firth
Michael Gambon (separate from below)
Last would be a group award for the the Wes Anderson/Performer diarama still being built over the years as they keep reappearing in his movies (Schwarzmann, Murray, Goldblum, Wilsons, etc). It's a great dynamic.
Robin Williams, since I was a kid. Always identified with his energy and personality, more so than I realized.
What do you think?

Who attracts me to see a movie?? Some favs:
John Malkovich, Donald Sutherland (my screen name is a play on his Sergeant Oddball character in Kelly's Heroes), Jody Foster, John Cusack, Joaquin Phoenix, Peter Sellers, Meryl Streep, Michelle Yeoh, Anjelica Huston, Gene Hackman, Gene Wilder, Jamie Foxx, Taraji P. Henson... And the list goes on...
IMHO, Jack Lemmon was in a league of his own.
of course. sometimes that what leads me to decide whether to watch a movie or not.
Actors: Dustin Hoffman, John Malkovich, Cristopher Walken, Donald Sutherland, Joakin Phoenix....
Actresses: Maryl Streep, Winona Ryder, Cate Blanchett, Jennifer Lawrence, Jodie Foster, Francis McDormand, Scarlett Johanson...
both lists are quite long actually, so I'll stop here.
thank you for intersting questions-as always
